week 7 - Personal branding

I have tried out several different styles to present my personal banner.
I decision used Chinese ink and wash painting (Chinese Brush Painting) style, due to I want through traditional Chinese culture to express myself. Basically, the forms of culture are many and varied. Such as lyre-playing, chess, calligraphy, painting, Beijing opera, etc… (I have selected several types created and shown on sketching book.)
The reasons for chosen the style of Chinese ink and wash painting that could enhance some artistic quality of my personal branding, but also non-luxuriantly. The painting have three basic characteristics of naturally, figuratively and simplicity. As well as express concepts such as purity, self-reflection, and human nature. And I think Ink and Wash Art is the unique Chinese art style, which implicates the oriental philosophy and reflect the Chinese aesthetic attitudes.
(In traditional through this medium could be limit self to the creation of works in black-and-white. The paintings are understood and evaluated in relation to a system often termed the “rhythm of the ink,” by which different applications and gradations of ink including wet, dry, light, dark, burned, and others.)
The front I chosen Calligraphy is that the art of writing. Works of calligraphy are simultaneously admired for their form and ability to communicate information. The art form typically uses ink brushes to create characters. The aesthetic qualities of calligraphy originate from the artists’ use of brush strokes as a means for expressing thoughts and emotions. The techniques and materials used in calligraphy are extremely similar to  ink-and-wash.

Week 5 – Floor planning

I have got some research for floor plan.

Public space
This area of the exhibition devoted to the movement and use of the public. It must be easily and immediately accessible, and it must be big enough for them. Most doorways are big enough for people to pass through alone and also really for people to pass each other is better. There about ‘human dimensions’, but sheer dictate the width of an aisle in which one person may be standing, looking or bending to look, while two others are passing behind; a visitor in a wheelchair will need even more pace. There could also provide room for people to talk and exchange information without disturbing the solitary viewer.

Information space
This is the actual exhibition space for objects, models, artefacts, showcase, light boxes and vertical or sloping flat displays. Obviously the available space is somewhat controlled by the size of the objects on displays.
And then it must be planned with its informative and attractive values in mind, as if to place all the most inviting objects on the edge of an exhibition, the visitor is going to be very disappointed when moving into the duller space beyond.
Size is important, huge object can objects could be obscure small ones.
Safety is important that if working exhibits are involved there must be a barrier and a space between them and the visitor.

Administrative space
This is apace set aside for many vital purposes out of dissect reach or sight of the public. It is space for access for maintenance, changing bulbs behind transparencies or lamps for projects, or attending to working exhibits or models.
Many exhibitions have counters where administrative space meets public space that these could be adroitly sited and ought to be provided with solid fronts, so that tired attendants can relax their legs and feet out of sight of the visitor. Administrative space can be divided as detailed below.
1.         Space for storage
Many temporary exhibitions are backed up with literature and samples to be given away, so an assessment of these needs is important.
2.         Space for staff
Most temporary exhibitions have attendant managers and representatives who need room to relax, loosen smart clothing for a while, have a cup of tea or change into uniforms. No matter how small the stand, such as space is vital. On huge temporary stands – at world fairs, for example – this space can run into a sizeable proportion of the whole area, calling for toilets and washrooms, offices, changing rooms and kitchens.
3.         Entertainment space
Additional space might be required for important customers to be given special treatment such as drinks or private video shows.

It is very helpful to design of high-quality business card.

Research for Logo and patterns
Logo designed for my personal branding. It could design by a graphic character used in picture writing. And also be used some letter.
My Chinese name is Rui Zhang, and I want to design related with characteristics of the Chinese arts.

Here is some Logo I chosen from I researched.

Wrong / Right - Really smart logo!

Type FACE Type face:
Word-play: face from the type and letter T.

Twins
Very popular logo already, but thought I still share it in typography section.
Author’s comment: “Logo was made for a bold creative team consisting of two people. Two people being brothers …and fortunately born on the same day. TWINS was a suitable name for the two. To reflect the essence of the duo, a bold typeface was created to reflect the boldness of their approaches. The number 2 was integrated to show the creativeness of their ideas.”
Artists United
Simple, artistic and very clever – all in one place!

Snap – logo with very clear message.

Pattern

And then I have research of different patterns.
In my desire to design with characteristics of the Chinese art, so I researched these patterns that could be performers in Chinese style.

This one shown of blue and white porcelain.

Dragon is symbol of China. But the patterns is really difficult.

Chinese ink and wash is be handed down from generation to generation. And I really like it.
